James Island Study

In my college years we took many a trip over the James Island connector to spend the day in James Island, usually heading to Folly Beach. There is nothing like a marsh view when riding down the road, even on a quick day trip. It's the smells, it's the perfect color green that I am convinced is only found in the Lowcountry. The nostalgia of this piece takes me right back to those Saturday afternoons. 

I love the thick brush strokes that a painting study offers. Often, studies are painted in one short studio setting, capturing the main idea of a landscape or subject. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed painting it.
